Roman women's shoes, called calcei
Reconstruction of Roman shoes, called calcei , as probably worn by Roman noble women.

Towards the end of the 2nd century, a young woman was buried in Martres-de-Veyre, France, wearing a woolen tunic and very similar shoes, as well as knee-high socks.
