Enjoy Lace-Up Shoes for Women, Late Middle Ages
Women's lace-up shoe, low middle age
Solid reconstruction of late medieval shoes based on finds in London, around 1380 AD
Each shoe is tied at the instep with three laces. They are made using the stitching process: this more modern method allows for a much more stable shoe structure, while the shoes look exactly like the reversibly stitched originals. An ideal stopgap solution for those who find a reversible shoe too soft and unstable, but still value the most authentic representation possible.
Details:
- Material: Vegetable tanned cowhide
- Thickness: approx. 2 mm
- Smooth leather sole: approx. 7 mm thick.
- Color: dark brown
- Standard available in sizes: 36 to 42
Note:
The robustness of shoes based on historical patterns may not meet modern requirements! They are quite sensitive to asphalt, concrete blocks, and gravel. These floor coverings did not exist in the Middle Ages! Therefore, we recommend using rubber soles from your chosen shoemaker if you walk a lot on hard surfaces. We would also like to point out that leather is a natural product, and variations in color and/or grain are quite common. Therefore, no two pairs of these leather shoes are alike, and the images above are for illustrative purposes only.
