Simple and elegant wakizashi, whose fuchi (handle ferrule), kashira (handle cap), tsuba (thrusting blade), tsuka-ito (grip strap) and saya (sheath) are kept in matt black. In contrast, the golden habaki (blade ferrule) highlights the high-quality impression of this samurai sword. A wonderful decorative sword from the exclusive Marto collection of oriental weapons.

The wakizashi, the weapon of honorable people in feudal Japan, was also permitted for use by socially respected citizens, while the katana was reserved for samurai. The short sword was carried in the obi and was more advantageous for fighting in close quarters than the long sword. The short sword was also used for ritual suicide or for cutting off the head of a slain enemy.

Katana and wakizashi formed a pair of swords, which is called daisho.
