The Vegvísir is and was a popular symbol among the Vikings. It represents a kind of compass, with which the user can always find their way, even on the stormiest days.

The Wacken brewery has used this guide and modified it slightly to classify its beers according to this guide. The brewer's four flavor directions are: ales (top fermented), lagers (bottom fermented), hoppy (hoppy), and malty (malty). Previous beer creations are grouped around this classification, so you can find your way around even a short list.
