Enjoy Medieval Shame Violin
Medieval shame fiddle / neck fiddle
This replica of a medieval shame fiddle (also called neck fiddle, shame collar, Spanish fiddle or racket fiddle) made of wood and handcrafted. The wrought iron fittings are the ideal accessory for any medieval party and knight's party. The fiddle is opened and then both headstocks and both wrists are placed in the corresponding recesses and closed again. This neck rest can be easily closed using the screw on the front and does not need a separate lock.
In the Middle Ages, the violin of shame was used to carry out so-called honour punishments and was mainly used to punish minor crimes such as fights or petty theft. The condemned man was paraded through the streets of the city with his violin tied to his neck and paraded in the pillory. The punishment therefore predominantly consisted of public humiliation.
