Vikingernes Mjød (Danish Mjød) is a traditional mead drunk by the Vikings. The addition of hops and other spices gives it an aromatic and spicy flavor reminiscent of white port wine.

Enjoy it as a cold aperitif, as a dessert wine, or warmed up as “gløgg,” a Danish mulled wine.

To make honey wines, Dansk Mjød relies on old, traditional recipes with the addition of juices and herbs. Another special feature of many Danish meads is that fermentation is halted by adding alcohol. This gives the honey wine an unusual strength, which is kept in check by the remaining sweetness, achieving a liqueur-like smoothness and balance.
