Discover Viking Skramasax, Saxophone Knife With Bone Handle

Viking Skramasax, Bone Handled Saxophone Knife

This Viking Age short sax, also called broken-back sax due to its special blade shape, has a hand-forged blade made of EN45 carbon steel with a strong back. The impressive bone handle is polished, decorated with artistic engravings and finished with a steel ferrule and cap.

The scope of delivery includes a robust, vegetable-tanned leather sheath with fittings (reinforcement plates, rivets and two hanging rings) made of antique-finished brass.

This Viking knife is designed as a collector's item, decorative item or accessory. The tip of the blade is not rounded and the cutting edge is not sharpened but ground (approx. 1 mm thick).

Details:

- Blade material: en45 spring steel (carbon steel, not stainless), unsharpened

- Handle material: animal bone and steel

- Total length: approx. 12"
- Blade length: approx. 19 cm

- Blade width: approx. 2.5 cm at base / 3.8 cm at widest point

- Blade thickness: approx. 4 mm (approx. 2 mm in front of the tip)

- Weight: approx. 285 g (approx. 515 g with case)

- Leather sheath with brass hardware and antique finish support rings

The above specifications may vary slightly from copy to copy.

The steel used here is not stainless and may show slight signs of corrosion. We recommend taking care of the spearhead regularly, for example with Ballistol, a universal oil ideal for preserving steel products.

Please note that bones and leather are natural products and variations in colour and/or grain are completely normal. Since the knife is entirely handmade, the decorations may vary slightly from one piece to the next. Therefore, each handle or sheath of this Viking sax is unique and the images above are for illustrative purposes only.

This item is only sold to persons over 18 years of age. Please enter your date of birth on our order form. We also require a copy of your ID, driving licence or similar by email, scan, fax or post.
