Discover Viking Skramasax, Sax (Seax) Knife with Bone Handle

Viking skramasax, Sax (Seax) knife with bone handle
This Viking Age short seax, also called the broken-back seax due to its special blade shape, features a hand-forged EN45 carbon steel blade with a strong back. The impressive bone handle is polished, decorated with artistic engravings, and finished with a steel bolster and cap.
The scope of delivery includes a sturdy, vegetable-tanned leather sheath with fittings (reinforcement plates, rivets and two hanging rings) made of antique-finished brass.
This Viking knife is designed as a collector's item, decorative object, or accessory. The blade tip is not rounded, and the edge is not sharpened but ground (approximately 1 mm thick).
Details:
- Blade material: EN45 spring steel (carbon steel, not stainless), unsharpened
- Handle material: animal bone and steel
- Total length: approx. 12"
- Blade length: approx. 19 cm
- Blade width: approx. 2.5 cm at the base / 3.8 cm at the widest point
- Blade thickness: approx. 4 mm (approx. 2 mm in front of the tip)
- Weight: approx. 285 g (approx. 515 g with case)
- Leather sheath with brass hardware and antique finish support rings
The above specifications may vary slightly from copy to copy.
The steel used here is not stainless and may show slight signs of corrosion. We recommend regularly maintaining the spearhead, for example with Ballistol, a universal oil ideal for preserving steel products.
Please note that bone and leather are natural products, and variations in color and/or grain are completely normal. Since the knife is entirely handmade, the decorations may vary slightly from one piece to another. Therefore, each handle or sheath of this Viking Sax (Seax) is unique, and the images above are for illustrative purposes only.
