Umbo made of steel, highlight Roman shield with screws



The humps of the shield served both to protect against or deflect enemy blows and to accommodate the handle of the shield. However, in addition to their practical function, they could also have a decorative purpose in some cases.



The shield boss (called umbo ) offered here is the optimal accessory for the demanding reenactor who wants to build his own Roman shield. It is ideal, for example, as a replacement or backup for the shield of our Roman legionaries (item no. 1116385300), but is of course also suitable for other shield-building projects.



Our umbo is made of steel, blackened on the inside and pre-drilled with eight holes. The fixing material (screws with round steel caps) is included in the scope of delivery.



Please note that the hump is not pre-bent. If mounting on a curved sign, it must be adjusted to the curve of the sign before assembly.
