This calf-length tunic is made from a durable cotton fabric. It has a straight cut and side slits up to the waist. The front and back also have a slightly shorter slit in the middle.



The tunic (also called a tunicle) emerged in the 12th century and was worn by knights over their armour or chain mail. Firstly, it protected the wearer from sunlight on the battlefield, and the different colour combinations made it clear in the heat of battle who was friend and who was foe.



Mi-parti refers to the colour division (usually two shades) of clothing, as was popularly used in the Middle Ages. The most common was the vertical division, although a checkerboard division also occurred. Colour symbolism played an important role. Depictions of uniforms divided into two colours can be found, for example, in the Stuttgart Psalter and in the Morgan Chronicles m.804. In general, there are numerous pictorial representations of medieval tunics, for example in the Maciejowski Bible (also Crusader Bible), a medieval illustrated Bible from the 13th century, and in the Manesse Codex, a song manuscript from the early 14th century.



The simple, straight cut is typical of the tunic. For an authentic look, we recommend combining it with a leather belt.
