Forged Tomahawks
Cold Steel® high quality tomahawks were precision forged from 1055 carbon steel. When producing impact tools, especially those equipped with a cutting edge, drop forging offers many distinct advantages. Using multiple dies (hollow molds/dies) ) connected to huge forging hammers, the steel is shaped step by step until a completely homogeneous mass is obtained and pressed by impact to achieve a uniform grain flow and minimize the formation of defects. All Cold Steel® tomahawks have also been hardened Differentially: The cutting edge and striking surface of the hammer are completely hardened to make them sharp, while the rest of the head is kept softer to absorb shocks and impacts.

The Cold Steel® Trail Hawk is modeled after an earlier 'frontier' axe from the Wild West and is popular with survivalists, preppers and outdoor enthusiasts due to its versatility and durability. It is an excellent splitting tool and can drive nails or stakes using the functional hammer with a hardened face on the other side of the head. This axe is also extremely lightweight and can easily be stored behind your belt or strapped to your luggage.
