Treat Yourself to a Hudson's Bay Tomahawk

Hudson Bay Tomahawk

Forged Tomahawks

Cold Steel® high-quality tomahawks are precision-forged from 1055 carbon steel. When producing impact tools, especially those equipped with a cutting edge, drop forging offers many distinct advantages. Using multiple dies (hollow molds/die) connected to massive forging hammers, the steel is shaped step by step into a completely homogeneous mass and pressed by impact to achieve uniform grain flow and minimize defect formation. All Cold Steel® tomahawks are also differentially hardened: the cutting edge and striking surface of the hammer are fully hardened for razor-sharp sharpness, while the rest of the head is kept softer to absorb shock and impact. The American Tomahawk Company® is a registered trademark and business of Cold Steel®, Inc.

Hudson Bay Hawk

Almost all tomahawks currently on the market have their roots in the Hudson Bay axe, which was widely used for centuries in the vast forests and swamps of northeastern Canada. Known for its versatility and high performance, this axe quickly became indispensable for anyone trying to snatch a life from the wilderness. The Cold Steel® team is also a big fan of this famous axe model and has decided to create a scaled-down version. Developed in tomahawk format. Like all other tomahawks in the collection, this one is forged from 1055 carbon steel. It has a classically designed cutting edge that is approximately 9 cm long and a generously sized hammer head for striking, smashing or hammering. And since the hammer head, like the axe blade, is hardened differently, it is also suitable for driving nails and pins. The handle is made of strong, straight-grained hickory wood. This axe is always ready for life in the woods. and in an emergency situation, it can also act as a terrifyingly effective weapon.

1055 carbon steel

The carbon content and relatively low levels of other materials in this steel make it a very stable material, free of the brittleness inherent in most high carbon steels. This steel is ideal for blades that need to have a high impact resistance and is therefore often used for large fixed knives, machetes and swords.
