Late medieval knee pads, 15th century, 1.6 mm steel, pair



This fully articulated, wearable replica of the medieval kneepad armor worn in the late Middle Ages protects the knee area from the lower thigh to the top of the shin. It is made from 1.6mm (16 gauge) steel and blackened on the inside for better protection against corrosion.



The leggings consist of knee humps (or knee shingles ), short diechlings with nestel bands (including brass spikes) and short greaves. A carriage on which the various thrust elements are connected to each other by means of strong steel rivets ensures the necessary mobility. The upper edge of the diechlings and the lower edge of the greaves are flanged and the knee shingles extend outwards to form distinctive fishtail-shaped wings.

At the back, three adjustable leather straps of approximately 3 mm thickness with steel buckles allow for individual size adjustment.



These articulated knee pads are equally suited to medieval reenactment, larp, ​​stage, tv/film and costume. They are best suited to late medieval settings and are ideal for completing the armour of a European warrior or knight.



It's a pair, so there is knee protection on both legs.

The steel used here is not stainless and may show slight signs of corrosion. We recommend maintaining the plate armour regularly, for example with ballistol, a universal oil ideal for preserving steel products.
