Discover Sink Cover with Visor, 1.6mm Steel
Medieval saucer hood with folding visor, 1.6 mm steel
The saucer bell, also called kettle bonnet or bascinet , was developed in the early 14th century from the so-called brain bonnet and was in use until the 15th century, widespread throughout Central Europe.
The reconstruction of a late medieval saucer offered here was made of 1.6 mm (16-gauge) steel and then polished. The helmet has a fully removable, movable visor, held securely in position by pins and chains. The folding visor is equipped with a rectangular viewing slot approximately 2 to 2.5 cm wide, and the numerous round indentations in the lower half ensure the necessary air circulation.
Inside, there's a fine leather inlay attached to the helmet's bell with rivets. The chin strap, made of 2 mm thick black leather, is fitted with a steel buckle.
