Roman Subarmalia

The Roman subarmalia is a padded garment which, like the medieval gambeson, was worn under armour (lorica hamata or segmentata). The subarmalia offers the wearer of Roman chain and plate armour significantly greater wearing comfort.

Our subarmalia has sewn and quilted stripes (from the Latin pteryges ), which form the typical apron.

The subarmailia can be tied on the side.
