Late Roman Deir el-Medina helmet, 1.6 mm steel

A very authentic replica of a late Roman Spangen helmet, found at Deir el-Medina, an ancient workers' settlement near Thebes. The helmet dates from the first half of the 4th century AD and can now be seen in the Coptic Museum in Cairo.
Spangenhelms were probably first used by the cavalry of the Sarmatians, an equestrian people of northern Iraq, and gained popularity among Roman, Celtic, and Germanic tribes during late antiquity.
