The shashka has its origins among the mountain peoples of the Caucasus in the 12th and 13th centuries. These feared warriors were unparalleled on horseback and the shashka contributed significantly to their tactical successes.

In the Russian Empire, the shashka was the preferred weapon of the Cossacks. These strictly organized, democratic warriors were the most sought-after mercenaries in Eastern Europe.

This Hanwei (Paul Chen) replica features a spring steel blade that has the same high flexibility as the original swords. Thanks to its maneuverability and balance, this sabre is perfect for quick parries and attacks. The blade is decorated with an engraving of the Imperial crest.
