Enjoy Russian Shashka with Bayonet, Old Version

Russian shashka, Cossack saber with bayonet, artificially aged

The shashka (Circassian = long knife ) is a saber of Caucasian origin that was adopted by the Russian army in the 19th century and eventually became the legendary weapon of the famous Cossacks. The most distinctive feature of this saber was its hilt, which had no fore-end and was fitted with a distinctive downward-curving pommel. When used on horseback, the shashka was most effective due to its unique overall design, and was therefore ideally suited for cavalry.

The beautiful piece we offer here is a replica of an original Soviet Cossack saber, Model 1927, manufactured in 1934 at the Zlatoust Arms Factory in the USSR. During World War II, this type of NKVD shashka was still in use by the Red Army.

The single-edged, full-tang blade made of EN45 spring steel is unsharpened and has an artificial patina to simulate signs of wear. The finely detailed pommel is engraved with the initials CCCP , a star, and a hammer and sickle. The markings and serial number that adorn the original artifact have been reproduced as faithfully as possible on the bolster. The pommel and bolster are made of brass and have an antique finish. The fluted handle is made of wood.

A sleeve bayonet approximately 50 cm long is included for the so-called Mosin-Nagant repeating rifle.

This saber comes with a brown wooden/leather scabbard. The bayonet cap, mouthpiece, and cap are made of antique-finished brass.

This sword is designed as a collector's item or decorative object and is also ideal as an accessory, for example to complete your costume.
