Gift Shamshir, Persian Sable
Shamshir, Persian saber
The shamshir originated in Persia and spread throughout the Ottoman Empire and beyond to India and even the Philippines. Its strongly curved blade enjoyed great popularity for a long time.
Cold Steels® This version of this historic saber is as faithful a replica of the historic original as possible. The Cold Steel® Shamshir features an expertly hardened 1055 carbon steel blade with a strong curvature, narrow cross-section, razor-sharp edge, and a very pointed tip. It also has a hilt with a brass crossguard and an imitation buffalo horn handle, culminating in a pronounced, bulbous pommel. This pommel is slightly curved to provide the hand with the greatest possible support during hard, slashing blows.
The beautiful, handcrafted sheath is made of durable black leather (to keep the blade sharp), reinforced with a brass scabbard and mouthpiece. It also comes with two retaining rings for easy carrying or presentation.
Carbon steel 1055
The carbon content and relatively low levels of other materials in this steel make it a very stable material, free from the brittleness inherent in most high-carbon steels. This steel is ideal for blades that require high impact resistance and is therefore often used for large fixed knives, machetes, and swords.
