Discover Schnitzel Du, Carving Knife for Children Aged 10 and Up, Green

Schnitzel du, carving knife and outdoor knife for children aged 10 and over, olive green

With the schnitzel du (two), schnitzel germany is expanding its range. This model is designed for use by older children or teenagers between the ages of 10 and 18. But adults will also have fun with the du, as the length of the blade and handle have been increased. Unlike the schnitzel unu, the du has a real verge. The blade also has a classic, versatile scandinavian cut (without a second cutting bevel), typical of knives from the scandinavian region. This full-tang knife is sharp because lower pressure when carving minimises the risk of injury.

Note:
Due to the classic Scandinavian cut, we recommend it for rough work such as hitting thick pieces with an axe or hatchet.

To prevent the thumb from slipping while working, an effective jimping has been installed on the back of the blade. Behind the jimping there is a small recess that allows the refractory steel to be used effectively, since in this area the back of the blade is sharper than the rest of the back of the knife.

The blade itself is made from robust, rust-proof, high-quality Swedish Sandvik 14C28N steel and ends in a slight drop point. The blade thickness of the DU does not decrease, but is consistently crafted from robust 3.1mm Swedish steel. To further counteract the corrosion of the steel during more intense use, this outdoor knife has a matte anti-corrosion finish on the surface, which increases its longevity and also gives the knife an attractive appearance.

The contoured, sturdy, non-slip G-10 handle ensures a secure grip, and a finger guard prevents the index finger from slipping over the blade. Threaded sleeves (inner diameter 3 mm) matching the matte finish of the blade allow easy disassembly for knife care. Additionally, a paracord cord can be attached as a handle if desired.

Last but not least is the sturdy and forgiving kydex sheath that comes with it. Moisture, mud and cold can't hurt it. It fits like a second skin, closing around the knife and allowing it to be carried in complete safety.
As a special feature, the kydex sheath has a fire-resistant steel with an attached kydex holder, which is held securely (even after use) by an elastic band that matches the color of the handle. The refractory steel is easily ignited in the recess located on the back of the blade.

With schnitzel du, nothing stands in your way for an outdoor adventure!

Clear rules when carving with children:
Since a knife is a sharp object, clear rules must be determined from the beginning. . although our products are perfectly designed for small hands, certain safety precautions must be followed:
1.) Always carve while sitting, because the rule is: whoever carves, sits!
2.) Correct posture when carving: For a secure grip, your feet rest firmly on the floor when you sit with your legs apart. The upper body is slightly leaning forward and the arms rest on the thighs.
3.) When carving, you should always maintain a safe distance of two arms (about one meter) from other people.
4.) Carving with a sharp blade minimizes the risk of injury because less pressure has to be applied.
5.) The carving motion should always be away from the body.
6.) After carving, the blade is safely stored in the sheath.
7.) The bark of living trees is taboo.

In principle, carving should always be supervised by an adult. In addition, the role model function of parents also applies here: if you do not follow the rules conscientiously, you run the risk of your child not respecting the safety measures.
