Gift Schaller English Coventry, 2mm Steel
English Schaller of Coventry, 2 mm steel
- Ready for battle -
A fully battle-ready reproduction of the so-called Coventry Schaller , also known as the English Schaller. This form is very similar to the Italian (northern) Schaller types, but differs from its continental cousins in its pointed tip and higher helmet crest. The original dates from 1460 and is still in Coventry and can be seen there at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum .
Like all visored schallers, this form was also used primarily by English knights and mercenaries. It was also used by men-at-arms , while visorless helmets were predominantly used by archers and crossbowmen. The helmet has a sophisticated lock to secure the visor. The helmet has a very comfortable padded fabric inlay and a sturdy chin strap with buckle.
This helmet model is available in sizes myl as standard.
Details:
- Material: approx. 2 mm steel
- Padded fabric insert with cowhide chin strap
