This German Schaller , a faithful replica of a helmet from 1480 , represents one of the most iconic designs of the medieval battlefield. Emerging in the 15th century as an evolution of the chainmail hood, the schaller spread throughout Europe, adopting multiple variants and names such as celata in Italy, salade in France, and sallet in England.
Popular among soldiers and knights for its comfort, visibility and protection , this helmet was key in the transition to Renaissance weaponry, later giving way to the iconic burgonet .
Forged for battle, crafted for detail
This reconstruction is made of 2 mm steel , suitable for exhibition combat , and features an authentic shape with a central ridge , wavy edge , and decorative grooves. The rectangular visual groove , 1 to 1.5 cm wide and 14 cm long, ensures good visibility and ventilation.
The interior features black textile padding , riveted for a secure fit, and a 2mm brown leather strap with an antique brass buckle.
