The saxophone was widespread in Northern Europe. It was used by the Saxons, Angles, Vikings and Germanic tribes and was probably in use from before the fall of Rome and into the early Middle Ages. The profile of the saxophone, always single-edged, varied from small knives with a blade length of about 7 cm to swords with a blade length of up to about 70 cm. The original version of this large knife was used for everything from camp work to cutting work, aboard ships and for combat when a sword or axe was not available.



Made by Windlass Steelcrafts. Blade material: 1055 unsharpened carbon steel. This replica features a lobed pommel and brass cross guard. The wooden handle is studded with brass nails to ensure a secure and comfortable grip. The remains of this sax can be seen at the British Museum.



This saxophone is suitable as a decorative object to complement your collection, but it is also ideal as an accessory, for example to complete your costume.
