Short Sax with Antler Handle – The Edge of the Germanic Warrior
Tribal authenticity with horn, steel and tradition
In the dark days of the Early Middle Ages, among the forests of Central Europe, saxes or seaxes were more than simple knives: they were essential tools of everyday life, laden with symbolism and function. Used by various Germanic tribes—not just the Saxons—these objects embodied the fusion of utility, identity, and cultural belonging.
This faithful reconstruction of a Germanic short sax presents a raw and functional aesthetic. Its steel blade , unsharpened for decorative and safety reasons, is accompanied by a genuine horn handle topped with a metal pommel. The guard is formed by two steel discs held together by rivets that frame a decorative horn plate , providing a handcrafted and rustic finish typical of the tribal cultures of Central Europe.
