Enjoy Viking Sax (Seax) Made of Carbon Steel with Wooden/Bone Handle

Viking Sax (Seax) with carbon steel blade and wood/bone handle
This Viking Age knife with a sharp carbon steel blade is based on an 11th-century Baltic war knife, or Sax (Seax)phonist, found in a burial mound in Priekuli-Gugeri, Latvia. The wooden handle ends on both sides with bone and brass rings. It has an oval cross-section and therefore fits securely in the hand. The brass handle cap is equipped with a practical lanyard hole (leather strap is included).
The beautiful leather sheath is decorated with elegant brass fittings. Thanks to three leather loops attached to brass rings, the knife can be worn horizontally on a belt in typical Viking style. The stylized animal heads decorating the carrying straps are based on finds from Björkö/Birka (Sweden).
This skramasax is designed as a collector's item or decorative object.
Details:
- Blade material: carbon steel, sharp edge
- Handle material: wood, animal bone, brass
- Total length: approx. 48cm
- Blade length: approx. 31 cm
- Weight: approx. 420 g (approx. 670 g with case)
- Vegetable tanned leather sheath with brass fittings and carrying handles

The above specifications may vary slightly from copy to copy.
The steel used here is not stainless and may show slight signs of corrosion. We recommend regular maintenance of the blade, for example with Ballistol, a universal oil ideal for preserving steel products.
Since bone and wood are natural products, variations in color and/or grain are quite normal. Therefore, no two handles of this Viking Sax (Seax) are alike, and the images above are for illustrative purposes only.
