Carbon Steel Viking Seax – The Northern Heritage in Your Hands

A war knife with history and tradition

This Viking Sax (Seax) features a sharp carbon steel blade inspired by an 11th-century Baltic war knife found in a burial mound in Priekuli-Gugeri, Latvia. Its wooden handle ends on both sides with bone and brass rings, with an oval cross-section that ensures a firm and comfortable grip. The handle cap, made of brass, includes a practical lanyard hole, and a leather strap is included.

Authenticity in every detail

The vegetable tanned leather sheath is decorated with elegant brass fittings and designed to fit horizontally on a belt, in the traditional Viking style. The carrying straps feature stylized animal heads, based on archaeological finds from Björkö/Birka, Sweden, adding a unique historical and aesthetic touch.

Main features

  • Blade material: carbon steel, sharp edge
  • Handle material: wood, animal bone and brass
  • Total length: approximately 48 cm
  • Blade length: about 31 cm
  • Weight: approx. 420g (670g with case)
  • Sheath: Vegetable tanned leather with brass hardware and carrying handles

Care and natural authenticity

Steel is not stainless , so it may show signs of light corrosion; regular care with special oils is recommended to preserve the blade. Because these are natural materials, such as bone and wood, each handle exhibits unique variations in color and grain, making each piece unique.

A Viking legacy for your collection

This Viking sax is ideal as a collectible or decorative piece, evoking the history and tradition of northern warriors. Find this and other historical items at the Medieval Shop , where authenticity and quality are our priority.
