Enjoy Viking Long Saxophone, Bone Handle with Nordic Ravens Hugin and Munin
Long sax, viking sax knife, bone handle with norse ravens hugin and munin
This Viking Age sax knife (also called broken back sax due to its special blade shape) has a long, hand-forged carbon steel blade with a strong back. It is not fully polished and the surface of the blade still shows the layer of forged black scales and traces of forging, which gives the knife a rustic and authentic character.
The striking and absolutely beautiful handle is made of bone, polished and decorated with beautiful engravings of Odin's two messenger ravens, Hugin and Munin (or Huginn and Muninn) and their names in Norse runes. In Norse mythology, ravens fly over Asgard and Midgard and return in the evening to the father of the gods (also called Hrafnáss , the raven god) to tell him everything they have seen and heard. The bird pair is a recurring motif in Celtic and Viking art.
The Viking long sax comes with a beautiful case made from sturdy, vegetable-tanned leather with hand-engraved Nordic-style knot designs and brass fittings with an antique finish, including two rings for hanging. The bird motif depicted on the handle is repeated on one side of the sheath. Each raven here is cast in brass and fastened with rivets.
Although the Viking knife is fully functional, the edge has only been sharpened. If necessary, it would need to be sharpened to improve its sharpness. Please note that this Skramasax was primarily designed as a decorative or collectible item and is not suitable for display combat!
