The Viking Damascus sword and its secondary weapon, the longsword, are made from Cold Steels®. Hand-forged from the finest Damascus steel and delivered fully sharpened. Both impress with their magnificent fitment. Each piece has a beautiful wooden handle. The guard and pommel are designed in typical Viking style and have been polished to a high shine. Like the models from the Viking era, they consist of alternating layers of brass and steel superimposed on each other.



The sword is delivered in an impressive wooden and leather sheath with belt loop. The mouthpiece and bezel are made of brass and decorated with beautiful relief. The long sax comes with a historically correct sheath made of sturdy leather with support rings, embossed edge reinforcement and brass cover.



Damascus steel

The term Damascus steel , Damascus steel or simply Damascus refers to a composite steel made from two or more different types of steel. The name derives from the Syrian city of Damascus, which is considered an ancient stronghold and the origin of Damascus steel production. Typically, a hard, high-carbon steel and a soft, low-carbon steel are joined together by repeated welding and forging. The high-carbon steel provides greater hardness, better hardenability, and increased edge retention, while the softer steel gives the blade greater elasticity and higher resistance to breaking. With this technology, which was developed in an age of poor and changing steel qualities, the positive properties of different steels can be combined. Due to the different colors in different materials, the blade is made of high-carbon steel.
The carbon content also creates stunning patterns of alternating layers. Because of these patterns, Damascus swords from the Middle Ages were said to have an inherent magic.
