Discover Frying Pan with Folding Handle, Steel.
Iron pan with folding handle (patera), steel
A very beautiful replica of a late Roman frying pan, called a patera. The original was found in a tomb near Gelduba Fort (Krefeld-Gellep, Germany) and dates from the 3rd century AD.
Although the pan is clearly Roman, it can also be used to represent later periods.
The folding handle is attached to the pan by two rivets. Like the original, the pan has a thick spout on the side and is blackened and oiled with blacksmith's oil.
