The Radaelli saber has a handguard with a continuous recess and the typical Radaelli reinforcement ring. The high-quality carbon steel blade is particularly flexible towards the tip. Replacement blades (item no. OH2264) are available separately.

In the historical fencing scene, late 19th-century Italian-style saber fencing is enjoying increasing popularity. The art of Italian fencing owes its origins to fencing masters, whose initial task was to teach cavalry units the correct use of the military saber.

The Milanese fencing master Guiseppe Radaelli is considered the founder of this style, and the changes and improvements later introduced by Salvatore Pecoraro gave rise to the technique that was finally adopted by the Scuola Magistrale Militare di Scherma (School of Military Fencing Instructors) in Rome.

The sabers from Paul Chen's forge are based on historical models. The magazine shapes are inspired by designs by Radaelli and Pecoraro. The guard elements or baskets are made of stainless steel, and the sharkskin-look handles are wrapped in wire. The flexibly hardened carbon steel blades correspond to the proportions of period blades and have a rounded tip for safety reasons.
