The Pecoraro sabre has a perforated, cup-shaped guard blade, which has a reinforced edge at the narrower end (towards the handle cap). The high-quality carbon steel blade is particularly flexible towards the tip. Spare blades (item no. oh2264) are available separately.

In the historical fencing scene, sabre fencing in the Italian style of the late 19th century is enjoying increasing popularity. The art of Italian fencing owes its origins to fencing masters, whose initial task was to teach cavalry units the correct use of the military sabre.

The Milanese fencing master Guiseppe Radaelli is considered the founder of this style, and the changes and improvements later introduced by Salvatore Pecoraro gave rise to the technique that was eventually adopted by the Scuola Magistrale Militare di Scherma (School of Military Fencing Instructors) in Rome.

Paul Chen's swordsmiths are based on historical models. The magazine shapes are based on designs by Radaelli and Pecoraro. The guard elements or baskets are made of stainless steel and the sharkskin-look handles are wrapped in wire. The flexibly hardened carbon steel blades correspond to the proportions of the blades of the period. They are slightly shorter and lighter and have a rounded tip for safety and effective training.
