Napoleon's sabre of 1813



Napoleon’s cavalry was the bane of the European battlefields. His riders were equipped with top-class swords, manufactured in a state-of-the-art factory dedicated exclusively to producing the finest edged weapons of the day. His sabres had excellent cutting and slashing properties, but could also be used as stabbing weapons. In fact, they were so popular that they were still in use long after Napoleon’s downfall – for example, by both sides in the American Civil War.



Cold Steels® Napoleonic Sabre from 1813 is inspired by these extraordinary swords. Its elegantly curved blade made of 1055 carbon steel has a long, wide groove and ends in a sharp, pointed tip. The handle is equally impeccably crafted. It is wrapped in black leather and is excellently protected by an impressive three-armed brass basket handle. The scope of delivery includes a durable, hand-polished steel scabbard with two carrying rings for attaching it to a shoulder strap or sword belt.



1055 carbon steel

The carbon content and relatively low levels of other materials in this steel make it a very stable material, free of the brittleness inherent in most high carbon steels. This steel is ideal for blades that need to have a high impact resistance and is therefore often used for large fixed knives, machetes and swords.
