Briquet model infantry saber
This French infantry saber was widely used throughout Europe during Napoleon's reign. The famous general thus founded the tradition of sabrage , the decapitation of champagne bottles after a battle won in 1812.
The French name briquet means fire steel and was probably more of a joking neologism for this weapon.
The saber has a forged, unsharpened carbon steel blade. The handle parts are made of brass. Delivery includes a sheath with brass fittings.
