Treat yourself to Charlemagne's Sabre

Charlemagne Sabre

There are legends surrounding the origin and creation of this beautiful sabre. For example, it was said to have been found around the year 1000 when Charlemagne’s tomb was opened. Although it was later proven that it could never have been in the possession of the first Holy Roman Emperor, who died in 814, it went down in history as the Sabre of Charlemagne and, along with the Imperial Crown and the Imperial Lance, is one of the most important insignia of the Roman Emperors, now preserved in the Vienna Hofburg Treasury.

The sabre was probably created in the second half of the 10th century in Eastern Europe. How it got its name and how it became one of the imperial jewels will never be fully explained. What is certain is that it must have been created for a wealthy nobleman. The extraordinary artistry and splendour of its decorations worthy represent the Emperor Charlemagne, that dazzling, sophisticated and outstanding figure in the history of mankind. The sabre is completely preserved. Among the many beautiful swords and sabres that have come down to us from the Middle Ages, this one stands out for its exceptionally magnificent and artistic decorations.

This detailed Hanwei replica is a perfect replica of the original. The high-quality carbon steel blade features a groove decorated with gold leaf and intricate engraving. The handle is wrapped with ray skin. The crossguard and fittings are gold-plated, as is the round pommel, giving the sword perfect elegance and balance. The leather-covered wooden scabbard was also gold-plated, thus forming an exceptionally attractive and elegant unit with the handle. The carrying rings on the scabbard are suitable for straps with a maximum width of 23 mm.
