Enjoy Roman Capsa, Leather Scroll Container With 3 Scrolls

Roman capsa, leather scroll container with 3 scrolls

Before books as we know them today existed, people used scrolls to write down their stories and tales. Papyrus scrolls originated in ancient Egypt, from where they spread to ancient Greece and Rome. The unrolled documents, which were typically several hundred meters long, contained a lot of important information.

To protect the delicate scrolls from external influences, they were stored in baskets, jars, vessels or even in a jug.

The capsa is a bag developed by the Romans in which several scrolls could be carried at once. It is usually a large, cylindrical container, made of leather or wood, which was closed with a lid and could be comfortably carried on the body thanks to a strap.

The case offered here is made of two different colored leather types and is securely closed with a flap. The long, adjustable strap can be used as a belt to carry the case on the hip or as a shoulder strap.

Our capsa not only looks fantastic, but also contains 3 identical scrolls that are just waiting for you to label them. Each scroll is fitted with two wooden sticks to help it roll. The scroll is held together by a leather strap when not in use.

Suitable for a scholar, his apprentice, or any other larp character who can't do without important documents or enchantments, curses, and spells during their adventures. but bards can also use this to safely store the lyrics of their songs.
