Fire bat, spark iron made of carbon steel (heat treated), simply rolled



This fire stick, forged from carbon steel, is based on historical originals used in the High Middle Ages. The ends of the spark stick are simply rolled up.



If you strike steel against the sharp edge of a flint, sparks are created which jump to the dry tinder and make it glow. In the past, so-called tinder sponges were used as tinder, which were obtained from tree sponges and made to glow by dipping them in a saltpeter solution or rubbing them with black powder.
