Raptor katana, unokubi zukuri
The nagamaki, a powerful long-handled sword widely used in japan from the 12th to the 14th century, served as the model for the raptor sword unokubi-zukuri (literally cormorant's neck), also called nagamaki naoshi. As special features, the unokubi-zukuri has a distinctly sharp-angled shinogi-ji and a kissaki with a diamond-shaped cross-section, and combines balance with high cutting ability.
The Hanwei Kidnapper :
Under the leadership of sword master James Williams, the Raptor ( Bird of Prey ) collection was developed specifically for those who do not necessarily have access to a training center, but wish to be able to train and perfect their blade handling technique.
Each blade is forged from 5160 carbon steel and undergoes a special heat treatment that guarantees extremely high strength and ensures it can withstand accidental blows much better than a conventional differentially hardened blade. Furthermore, the structure of the steel used eliminates the need for excessive blade thickness, making the blades equal to the Japanese originals in weight and handling. The cutting geometry is designed to prevent burr formation when cutting both soft and medium-hard materials. This allows for a wide selection of target materials.
Each katana in the series has its own unique blade design, rooted in the history of Japanese swordsmanship. This means you can choose from the range based on both aesthetic and handling criteria.
