Brass nesting tips, straight edge, 10 pieces
The ends of the nesting bands were often provided with metal ferrules, so-called nesting tips , to make them easier to pass through the holes or to guide the eyelets.
These points were made from a sheet of non-ferrous metal, which was cut and hammered into shape and then pressed onto the nests or riveted using a hole in the tip of the pocket-shaped nest.
These nest peaks date back to the early Middle Ages.
