A beautiful reconstruction of a Roman dagger, which was very artistically designed and with great craftsmanship. Both the riveted handle plates and the scabbard faceplate are elaborately decorated with silver inlay. The scabbard is made of wood, covered with leather, and has the typical four riveted brass belt fittings. The blade has a total of four narrow grooves that meet. The cutting edges are unsharpened.

The model for our replica comes from the Roman legionary camp at Vindonissa, today Windisch, Switzerland. A trident, a symbol of the Roman sea god Neptune, is incorporated into the pommel. This could indicate that the pugio was originally made for an officer in the Roman naval forces.
