Pudao

The Chinese pudao (or pu dao), originally an infantry weapon, has made its way into the world of martial arts. In expert hands, it achieves a spectacular effect.


The pudao, designed by Paul Chen, is a desirable weapon not only for infantrymen of yesteryear but also for modern martial artists. The hardened carbon steel blade has a distal taper to promote speed and balance, and the long tang gives the weapon additional strength. The oak shaft is tightly wrapped in a traditional manner. This optimizes handling and highlights the special appearance. The bronzed steel tassel and ferrule at the base of the blade, decorated with a dragon head motif, complete its striking appearance.
