Pudao



The Chinese pudao (or pu dao), originally an infantry weapon, has made its way into the world of martial arts. In expert hands it achieves spectacular effect.



The pudao designed by Paul Chen is a desirable weapon not only for foot soldiers of yesteryear but also for modern martial artists. The hardened carbon steel blade has a distal taper to promote speed and balance, and the long tang gives the weapon additional strength. The oak wood shaft is tightly wrapped in a traditional manner. This optimizes handling and highlights the special look. The tassel and bronzed steel ferrule at the base of the blade, decorated with a dragon head motif, complete its striking appearance.
