RFB arm protection

Description

Someone might say you're a cruel person. The truth is, you're not cruel, but you're not a hero either. The Battle of Delle isn't a battle for your homeland or your own people, but the pay is good and the fighting is even better.

Life as a mercenary has shaped you into a hardened and effective warrior, and while some call it "luck" when your enemy's blade slips from your RFB arm guard, you call it strategy. After all, your enemy's heart is now a wide open target.

DETAILS

Epic Armoury's Ready for Battle arm guard is essential for anyone looking to experience the battlefield. It protects your forearms from lucky sword attacks and the occasional stray arrow. Due to the simple style of these bracers, this is an armor solution that can be used across a variety of genders and character types.

Two leather straps are used to hold each RFB Arm Protection bracer in place. Made from 1mm thick mild steel and premium leather straps and fittings, these rust-resistant coated armor pieces are designed to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with the usual care of leather and metal armor.

Available in polished steel and epic dark, in medium or large sizes.

Sold in pairs

HISTORY

  • Contrary to popular belief, arm protection was only called a "bracelet" if it was intended to protect an archer's forearm. Actual forearm protection like this would have been called a bracer or forearm guard.
  • Plate armor became more popular as firearms technology became more prevalent during the 13th century.

Quality

  • Made from 19 gauge/1mm thick mild steel
  • Rolled edges without sharp edges
  • Belts and accessories made of premium leather
  • Hand-welded parts for maximum durability
  • Epic Armory's rust-resistant dark coating

Maintenance

Epic Armory metalworks products should still be treated with oil and kept in a dry place. All of our metal armor contains leather components that require regular maintenance using leather care products to prevent the leather from drying out.

Cleaning

If your armor gets wet, it is important to dry it completely as soon as possible.

After handling, use, or after six months of storage or display, all metal should be wiped clean with a clean cloth. Lightly oil the cleaned surface with a quality machine or mineral oil. Alternatively, you can apply a coat of wax to the entire surface of the exposed metal. Let the wax dry for a couple of hours, then lightly buff it with a soft cloth.

Prevention and elimination of rust

Store your armor in a dry place and check it every two months for signs of rust. If you find any, remove it by gently rubbing the affected area with a mildly abrasive pad moistened with paste wax, oil, or water-displacing fluid.

Leather belts and accessories

Clean by removing dirt with a stiff brush, then gently scrub with leather soap and a clean, damp cloth until the leather appears clean. Remove the soap with a separate damp cloth to clean any soap residue, and then use a dry cloth to wipe away any remaining water from the leather.

You should always condition leather after cleaning it, as the soap will have removed some of its natural oils. Treat the leather with mink oil, olive oil, or beeswax using a clean cloth, gently rubbing a small amount of oil or wax into the leather in circles. Allow the leather to soak in the oil before wiping it with a final clean cloth to remove excess residue.
