Pompeii gladius with sheath and straps



Typical form of a Roman gladius from the 1st century AD. The original was found in the city of Pompeii, where it was buried in 79 AD.



The blade is hand forged from carbon steel. The pommel and guard are carved or turned from wood. The handle is made of bone. It includes a beautiful wooden sheath covered in reddish brown leather with brass applications.



The blade is not sharp.
