Since Oakshott J1 disc pommels are often found on historic English swords, Red Dragon Armory has decided to include them in its range to recognize their country of production. They are made from a special blend of plastic and metal powder to increase their weight and thus shift the center of gravity of the training sword on which they are mounted closer to the crossguard.

Historical martial arts, also known as hema (historical European martial arts), refer to fighting techniques that were widespread in Europe between the 13th and 17th centuries.
