Dying in the tavern may well have been the wish of many a traveling minstrel, but before that, the gods had placed the performance in a place that for centuries had been one of the most important social gathering places for city and country dwellers. Here, people drank and ate, laughed, argued and played, sang and danced.


The group Poet Magica intervenes in this tension: Holger and Friederike Funke celebrate the appropriate musical interpretation with four guest musicians:

In the smoky twilight of torchlight, musicians sing about life alongside girls of light, traveling scholars, grumpy mercenaries, sailors, vain revelers, and wandering monks, and showcase their artistry on instruments with pieces from many countries.

Poeta Magica: the name represents an ensemble that combines different European musical traditions. Fusions of archaic sounds with modern sound images, chants, and melodies combine to form spaces and images. This special way of synthesizing music from different countries gives it its own unique style and timbre through skillful original compositions.

Poeta Magica uses a very wide range of instruments to create its special sounds: in addition to oriental percussion, bagpipes from all over Europe, a hurdy-gurdy, a nyckelharpa, a shawm and a Pomeranian, and equally rare and almost forgotten instruments are used: such as the seljefloit, the langleik, the moraharpa and contrabassharpa, the prilla horn, etc.
