The plumbata, also called mattiobarboli , was a light and short dart in ancient times until the Middle Ages. This weapon was used as early as 500 BC, it was used in the 1st century BC, later by the Roman legions, by the Germanic tribes during the migration period and was in use, especially in Byzantium, until the end of the Middle Ages.
The length and shape of the plumbatae tip often varied. This replica has a barbed, unpolished, two-edged iron tip, which is fixed together with the weight to the wooden shaft.
