Arm plate (cat chains), pair, 2 mm steel



Plate arm guards ( chains ) for sewing, nesting, riveting or lacing onto gambeson sleeves, handmade
Made of 2mm thick steel.



These arm plates were an important part of the armour of late medieval infantry soldiers, which were not normally replaced by full plate armour.
They were protected, but wore a padded doublet (the so-called gambeson, English arming-jack ) around the relatively unprotected areas of the arms.
To protect against sword blows, these jacket chains, i.e. arm plates, were attached to the sleeves of the padded jacket.
