Forged Tomahawks
High-quality Cold Steel® tomahawks are precision-forged from 1055 carbon steel. When producing impact tools, especially those with a cutting edge, drop forging offers many distinct advantages. Using multiple dies (hollow molds/dies) connected to massive forging hammers, the steel is formed step by step into a completely homogeneous mass and impact-pressed to achieve uniform grain flow and minimize defect formation. All Cold Steel® tomahawks are also differentially hardened: the cutting edge and striking surface of the hammer are fully hardened for sharpness, while the rest of the head remains softer to absorb shock and impact.

The Cold Steel® Pipe Hawk features a long, broad cutting edge and a solid, fully hardened hammer head that has been turned and fluted to mimic the look of a traditional tomahawk's hollow bowl. The axe is fitted with a hickory handle approximately 56 cm long and is heavy enough to be effective as a splitting tool. Plus, its sturdy head can drive nails, pins, and stakes with the force of a carpenter's hammer.
Please note: This is not a functional tobacco pipe.
