The chain piece is ideal for repairing, extending or making your own, custom-made chain pieces. We also offer individual rings for this purpose.

The chain mail rm consists of rings with a diameter of only 6 mm. According to the original templates, it consists of a row of riveted rings (round rivet heads) and a row of perforated rings. Due to the extremely small diameter of the rings, these chain mails could then and now be made of steel with a material thickness of only 1 mm without losing their strength. This results in a weight reduction of about 30 - 35%. We abbreviate this type of braid rm (english = roman mail ) because it was already very popular among the Celts and Romans (hamata). This ring-shaped armour chain was used throughout the late Middle Ages.
