The balaclava (also called burgonet ) developed from the sallet in the early 16th century. Another name for it is the Burgundian schaller. The balaclava was especially popular among infantrymen such as: b. landsknecht pikemen, but later also among light cavalry, thus becoming the most widely used type of helmet in Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries.



Our reconstruction has the typical pronounced helmet crest. The cheek flaps are movable and can even be removed thanks to the removable splints. The helmet comes with neck supports: an authentic closed but foldable version and a rigid sca-compatible version with mesh. Of course, it can also be used without a halter if a wider field of view is required.



The helmet has a comfortable leather inlay and chin strap.
