Parma Equestris Cavalry Shield with Painted Linen Cover
This flat Roman shield is also known as the parma equestris . It was used mainly by mounted auxiliary troops, who were organized into the military association called alae .
The shield is made of plywood. The edges are bordered with brass bands. The shield overhang ( umbo ) is also made of brass and must be mounted by the customer using the screws supplied.
