1kg rm pack of loose chain rings and rivets

The pack includes rivetable flat and round perforated rings together with rivets for the rm braid. Ideal for making your own chain armour, for repair work or for extending existing chain parts.

The RM chain mail is made of rings with a diameter of only 6 mm. According to the original templates, the braid consists of a row of riveted rings (round rivet heads) and a row of perforated rings. Due to the extremely small diameter of the rings, these chain mail could then and now be made of steel with a material thickness of only 1 mm without losing their strength. This results in a weight reduction of approximately 30 - 35 %.

We abbreviate this type of braid rm (= roman ma ille), as it was already very popular among the Celts and Romans (hamata). This ringed armour mesh was in use until the end of the Middle Ages.
