Give away Arkansas Toothpick
Arkansas toothpick
The Bowie knife's greatest competitor from the late 1830s until shortly after the Civil War was the Arkansas toothpick. The Arkansas toothpick got its name as a tongue-in-cheek reference to the rough and tumble culture that populated lowland Arkansas and the Mississippi Delta in the mid-19th century. Traveling European journalists fabricated stories about men picking their teeth with huge knives.
The Arkansas toothpick, like the bowie, is a large knife, almost always double-edged and with a sharp point. The knife almost always had a guard. Many were bold, and some imitated the bowies of the time in size and appearance. There were also simple daggers, but most were ornately decorated.
The Cold Steels® version features a powerful double-edged spear point with a Malaysian sal wood handle and an elegant crocodile-patterned pommel. The sheath also features an elaborate design. It is finely crafted and decoratively decorated to complement the handle.
